The market for gypsum concrete is registering an annual growth of 8 per cent, the latest studies indicate. The gypsum board offers solution to many problems of the multi-storey buildings being built in Metropolitan cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangaluru. In fact, parking facility is being provided at the basement of these buildings for the flat-owners. Because of the juxtaposition of the high-rise structures, the builders have to use material that is resistant to sound pollution and heat.
According to conservative estimates, over 6 crore houses are likely to be built in the country during the next seven years. The realty sector is going to attract US $ 1.3 trillion investing during the period. By 2024, affordable housing is going to occupy 70 per cent of market share by 2024. Moreover, there is plan underway to provide homes for all by 2022. Therefore, the demand for gypsum concrete will increase manifold, it is felt.
