Many businesses have reverted to work from office culture, setting aside the work from home culture followed during the pandemic situation. However, some of the companies have been implementing hybrid model, with less component of working from home culture. Under such a scenario, what impact the extending of work from home facility by an year by the Center in IT SEZ would have on real estate sector? Doubts are being raised over the issue. It is predicted that the demand for residential as well as commercial office space would go down following the development. The recovery of housing sector would delay next year to an extent, it is felt.

Currently, only 40-50 per cent of the work force is reporting for work in their offices, while the rest of the work force has adopted hybrid model. As the work-from-home facility is going to end by December-end, everyone thought that the attendance of employees will increase in offices. But the Center extended the facility by one more year in IT SEZs. Moreover, it applied the facility to 100 percent work force. While some justify the decision as timely, others oppose it.
