Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited London to learn about the best policies being followed in other countries. As part of the Musi river revival and riverfront project design, he visited the River Thames in London. The Chief Minister inquired about the management of the Thames River and the development of the riverfront project there. On Thursday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held discussions with the officials and experts of the Thames River Governing Council, Port of London Authority, and other experts there for about three hours.
Corporate Affairs Director Sian Foster and Port of London Authority Head Raj Kehal Livi explained to the CM the comprehensive development programmes undertaken along the banks of the Thames River in various stages over the decades. As part of that, the challenges faced, solutions, funds spent, partner organisations, and best practices adopted for beautification were all discussed on this occasion.
Cities along rivers, lakes, and seacoasts have developed historically. Hyderabad city has one such specialty. Hyderabad developed as the centre of a river system like the Musi River, the Hussainsagar, and the Osman Sagar. Hyderabad will become more powerful with rivers and lakes if Musi is brought back to glory through a revival project, explained the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held positive discussions with London officials to undertake this project in accordance with his vision for 2050. The officials there explained that, along with development programmes on the banks of the river, the preservation of the river has been given top priority. He said that by keeping the river waters stable, a revenue model should be chosen that is more beneficial to the local people through the chosen project. In addition to constantly observing the new procedures to make this project more excellent, we want to constantly focus on project management, said the CM.
The Port of London Authority has assured its support for all efforts to revive the Musi River in Hyderabad. On the same occasion, the outline of the project and the participation of various organisations were also discussed. It was agreed between the two sides to hold more discussions in the future to provide concrete support for this project. Along with CM Revanth Reddy, Principal Secretary Seshadri, Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Dana Kishore, Special Secretary B. Ajith Reddy, HMDA Joint Commissioner, Musi River Development Corporation MD Amrapali, Investments and Promotions Special Secretary Vishnuvardhan Reddy, and Musi River Development Corporation SE Venkata Ramana participated in this meeting.
