The Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (H-RERA) has imposed a fine of Rs 5 crore on a construction company for failing to register a project within the stipulated time. The company, Vatika Limited, was penalised for violating Section 3(1) of the RERA Act. Vatika India Next, the project in question, received approval from the Town and Country Planning Department in 2013. Following the enactment of the RERA Act in 2017, promoters were required to apply for RERA registration within three months.
However, Vatika Limited did not comply with this requirement. It was only in 2022 that Vatika Limited applied for registration after H-RERA took suo motu action. Consequently, H-RERA Chairman Arun Kumar stated that Vatika Limited was fined Rs 5 crore for not applying for project registration within the prescribed deadline as per the RERA Act.
