The RERA has achieved remarkable progress in the disposal of complaints. Ever since the RERA Act came into being, the authority has settled over 1.17 lakh complaints in seven years, according to a report released by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry.
The report states that the RERA disposed of 1.16 lakh complaints in various states and Union Territories in seven years.
The state of UP occupied the lion’s share of the disposal of complaints, corresponding to 38% of the total complaints (44,602), followed by Haryana with 20,604 complaints and Maharashtra with 15,423 complaints.
All 32 states and UT have adopted the RERA Act; the states of Ladakh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Sikkim have yet to do so.
In all, 1.16 lakh projects have been registered with RERA across the country, with Maharashtra topping the list, accounting for 36% of the projects, followed by Tamil Nadu (16%), Telangana (11%), and Gujarat (7%).
