The Anti Corruption Bureau awards a special prize to people who provide details of those who amass wealth illegally. Their details are also kept confidential. It would be great if the State government can announce a similar rewarding scheme for the informants who provide information about realtors selling plots and flats without complying with RERA regulations or without required approvals from respective local bodies. Only then will the RERA rules be strictly enforced by everyone in the State.
In Telangana, a large percentage of builders and realtors are taking up ventures and apartments without RERA permission. The RERA Authority imposes a fine of 10 per cent on such persons. Therefore, RERA should announce a prize money to the informant, either out of that fine amount or in any other way. Only then, the government can curb UDS and pre launch sales as well as illegal constructions and layouts. Such a policy suggestion should be made by the builders associations to the State government to achieve visible results.
