Police gives NoC to pull down twin towers

The works to pull down twin towers of the Super Tech Developers in Noida reached the final phase with the police department, under directions from the Supreme Court, giving the no-objection certificate to demolish the structures. The Gautam Buddha Nagar police gave the clearance certificate. The permission from the Central Building Research Institute is still awaited.

It may be recalled that the muhurat to demolish the 100-meter tall twin towers, located in Sector 93 of Noida, was fixed at 2.30 pm on August 21. In all, 3500 kg explosives were placed in columns of the structures making 9400 holes to them. On a request from Edifice Engineering Company, the NoC was issued in pursuant to the relevant guidelines, DCP of Gautam Buddha Nagar area Ram Badan Singh said.

At the time of the demolition, the Noida Express Way will be closed for public for about half an hour. Fifteen minutes prior to the demolition, the traffic on either side of the express way will be suspended for about 15 minutes. The dust emanating from pulling down of the structures will take at least 15 minutes to settle down, it is learnt. That is why traffic will not be allowed on the express way.
