One lakh poor to have Own roof

  • Situation not rosy in Telangana
  • 2BHK houses are still a far cry
  • Telangana Govt not allotting completed houses

Housing units built for the homeless poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna will be handed over to one lakh beneficiaries in 100 days, claims UP Deputy CM Kesav Mourya, in a statement, on Thursday. The UP Government has drawn up a 100-day action plan for the purpose in contrast to the policy here in Telangana.

The TRS government has announced to allot 2 lakh 2BHK houses to the homeless poor, but there seems to be no progress in their construction. At some places, the Government of Telangana is not allotting the completed 2 BHK houses to the beneficiaries, leading to weed growth in the homes causing damage to the structures, according to reports.

The beneficiaries have been breaking open the locks and celebrating house warming unable to see getting their houses damaged in front of their eyes, it is alleged. Several have been seen passing criticism to the effect that there is a lot to learn from the UP by the TRS government. While the Yogi Adityanath government of UP is progressing according to a plan, there is a different situation prevailed in Telangana.

The people of the state treat 2 BHK houses issue as an election stunt, according to criticism. It was high-time, the government authorities allotted the completed 2BHK houses to the homeless poor as early as possible.
