The Revanth government has taken another groundbreaking decision regarding encroachments on lakes. Notices have been issued for constructions within the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones of five lakes in the Serilingampally mandal area. Notices have been issued to 204 property owners within these five lakes’ FTL and buffer zones. For the Durgam Cheruvu FTL zone, 77 notices have been served to residents of Nectors Colony, Doctors Colony, Kavuri Hills, and Amar Society.
It is noteworthy that these areas include buildings occupied by several IAS and IRS officers, as well as film and political personalities. Additionally, the Serilingampally revenue staff has affixed notices to several houses. The notices specify a one-month deadline for the voluntary removal of constructions encroaching on the FTL.
In a single day, the Revanth government issued notices to hundreds of houses and commercial establishments across four colonies in Durgam Cheruvu. These notices were issued under Section 23(1) of the Water Act. The notices warned property owners that if they do not voluntarily demolish the encroachments, the government will carry out the demolitions themselves.
Hydra Commissioner Ranganath has not been seen much outside after the demolition of encroachments; reports suggest he has been holding meetings with officials at his office. As expected, the situation has developed further, and the Hydra authorities have indeed taken decisive action. Not only have notices been issued to 204 property owners within the boundaries of the five lakes, but an ultimatum has also been given: “Will you demolish the structures yourselves, or should we do it?”
The Revanth government is taking serious and dramatic decisions regarding lake encroachments without hesitation. In a shocking move, notices have been affixed to the residence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s brother, Tirupati Reddy, as well. The notices clearly state that even the Chief Minister’s brother will not be spared if found in violation.
Revenue officials confirmed that Tirupati Reddy’s rented house and office in the Amar Cooperative Society in Madhapur fall within the FTL zone of Durgam Cheruvu. Overall, it seems the Revanth government is not prepared to spare anyone.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s brother, Tirupati Reddy, responded to the issuance of notices by Hydra officials. He stated that he purchased a house in the Amar Cooperative Society in 2015 and was unaware that it was within the FTL limits. He expressed that he has no objections to any actions taken if the property falls within the FTL limits.
