More land allotted in Amaravati for the poor

The Jaganmohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh has allocated more land for the weaker section housing in the state capital region Amaravati. The government issued orders allocating 100 acres in Guntur district and 168 in NTR district, allotting a total of 268 acres. The land has been allocated in Borupalam, Picchukapalam, Anantavaram and other areas of Guntur district. The government decided to allot additional lands following letters addressed to it by district collectors seeking allotment of additional lands. So far, 1134 acres have been allotted for the poor in Amaravati. In addition to the existing 23,235 beneficiaries in Guntur district, an additional 100 acres have been allocated to benefit 3417 more beneficiaries. In addition to the existing 26,739 beneficiaries in NTR district, the government allotted 168 acres to benefit an additional 6,055 beneficiaries. Accordingly, the CRDA purchased lands spending Rs.65.93 crore. The CM, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, will allot the house sites to the beneficiaries at a meeting to be held at Amarvati on May 15. Afterwards, he will address the gathering. The government is taking steps to ensure that the process is not disrupted after the farmers of the capital filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court on the issue of allotment of houses to the poor in the capital.
