Andhra Pradesh state Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to expedite the metro rail projects in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. AP Metro Rail Corporation MD Ramakrishna Reddy informed the Chief Minister that the Visakhapatnam metro project will be undertaken in two phases.
In Phase-1, a metro rail line of 46 kilometres will be built at a cost of Rs 11,400 crore, and in Phase-2, another 30 kilometres will be constructed at Rs 5,734 crore. The Chief Minister directed that Phase-1 of the metro rail construction be completed within four years. He also advised speeding up the metro rail construction project in Vijayawada, which will cover 38 kilometres and cost Rs 11,000 crore.
