Karnataka Government has taken a crucial decision to digitalize land records in the state and will soon launch the full-fledged digital wallet project in this regard. The project – titled Kaveri block chain –is being implemented by the Centre for Smart Governance on a pilot basis in Tumukur.
Particulars of lands in the state will be recorded in the wallet. The details of all assets – including names of owners –of the government, agricultural lands, commercial and residential buildings will be included in the wallet. The owners will be given a smart card, which will be seeded with the Aadhaar Card number of the property owner at the sub-registrar office. Once the Aadhaar number is seeded, full details of the property can be seen in Kaveri portal. The property owners can visit the portal at anytime using the smart card and four digit password and can see for themselves the particulars. As part of the project, 67 types of transactions will be entertained.
