Kokapet, a hub for GCC

  • Increasing demand for skyscrapers

Hyderabad is becoming a hub for Global Capacity Centres (GCCs). What started as assistant work for large companies is now transforming into service providers. This means that companies are setting up their operations in such a way that major decisions for the organisation are being made here. With investments running into crores and creating thousands of jobs, countries are competing to attract these GCCs. In India, Hyderabad is clearly dominating when it comes to attracting these GCCs. Experts believe this is just the beginning, and more GCCs will be lining up to set up in the city in the future.

Different ideas and new opportunities are opening doors for investments. GCCs have become a hot topic in the technology sector. These support centres, set up in other countries to provide outsourcing and process services to company headquarters, are generating huge revenues for organisations. Along with revenue, they are also creating employment, making everyone compete to secure these global capacity centres. When compared to other countries, India has already become the capital for GCCs. Analysts predict that in the future, more GCCs will be established, and a 14% growth is expected in their establishment by 2025. Furthermore, it is estimated that GCCs contribute 4.5% to India’s GDP. In India, the IT/ITES/ICT sectors are seeing significant revenue generation through these GCCs.

All the states in India are fiercely competing to attract GCCs. However, investors are looking towards Hyderabad instead of the traditional software and hardware hubs. Currently, 20% of the GCCs in the country are operating from Hyderabad. In fact, every week, a GCC company is investing in the city. With this trend, experts believe it may not take long for Hyderabad to become a prominent GCC hub. The city is able to attract foreign companies, even pushing major cities behind in the race.

The rapidly growing GCCs in India have seen impressive revenue growth. For example, Microsoft’s revenue was Rs 4,872 crores in 2020, which surged to Rs 15,317 crores in 2024. Deloitte Consulting’s revenue grew from Rs 6,503 crores in 2020 to Rs 15,275 crores in 2024. Wells Fargo’s revenue increased from Rs 4,252 crores in 2020 to Rs 13,426 crores in 2024. Citibank’s revenue grew from Rs 4,241 crores in 2020 to Rs 12,123 crores in 2024. Walmart’s revenue, which was Rs 2,000 crores in 2020, rose to Rs 8,665 crores in 2024. Along with these, other companies are also showing similar growth, reinforcing the trend of increasing revenue from GCCs in India. Along with these…

Several global companies have registered impressive revenues through their GCCs in India. For instance, Deutsche Bank posted Rs 8,313 crores, while Morgan Stanley followed with Rs 6,934 crores. AMD India recorded Rs 3,904 crores, and ServiceNow earned Rs 3,834 crores. EPAM Systems generated Rs 2,507 crores, and Commonwealth Bank of Asia earned Rs 2,019 crores. T-Systems reported Rs 1,302 crores, Volkswagen posted Rs 781 crores, and Airbnb earned Rs 649 crores. Cardinal Health recorded Rs 210 crores. These figures demonstrate the substantial impact of GCCs in India, contributing significantly to both revenue generation and economic growth.

India’s Silicon Valley, Bangalore, holds the top spot with over 520 GCCs, followed closely by Hyderabad. Hyderabad, which has already made a mark in the IT sector, is now focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. According to IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, nearly one GCC is being set up every week in Hyderabad, with 355 GCCs already established. Experts predict that this number will continue to grow in the future, further cementing Hyderabad’s position as a major hub for global capacity centers.

Among the GCCs in Hyderabad…

Hyderabad is home to several prominent GCCs across various sectors. Some of the notable ones include Wells Fargo, GE, Agilisium, Sonoco GCC, Dark Matter Technologies, McDonald’s, Carlan Global Solutions, HSBC, Providence Healthcare, Citi Global Services India, and Citizens Financial Group.

The city is also leading in attracting pharma-related GCCs. Some of the major pharma companies with GCCs in Hyderabad include Eli Lilly, Bristol Myers Squibb, Novartis, Sanofi, Amgen, Roche, Bayer, Merck MSD, GSK, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Medtronic, and Sandoz. These companies reflect Hyderabad’s growing importance as a hub for both global capacity centres and the pharmaceutical industry.

Hyderabad is already dominating the IT sector and has become a major hub for biotechnology and pharmaceuticals as well. With employees frequently changing companies in other states, many organizations are showing interest in setting up their GCCs in Hyderabad. The future belongs to fields like AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and robotics. There is also growing demand in technology, life sciences, and consulting sectors. Acquiring expertise in these fields ensures that companies will seek out skilled professionals, establish their GCCs, and offer high salaries to employees. The abundance of specialists in these areas is one of the main reasons why Hyderabad is experiencing such high demand for GCCs.

In the country..

  • Gigacentres: 24 GCCs
  • Mid-tier centres: 177 GCCs
  • Small centres: 364 GCCs
  • Tiny centres: More than 1,235 GCCs

55 floor Poulomi Palazzo

With increasing support for GCCs in Kokapet, the demand for premium housing in Hyderabad is also growing day by day. Compared to 2023, the premium housing sector saw nearly an 86% growth in 2024. In 2023, 32,530 homes were sold, while in 2024, approximately 35,414 homes were purchased by buyers. The number of people who paid advance amounts but haven’t yet completed their registrations is still quite high. As a result, the demand for high-rise buildings in Kokapet is gradually increasing. This is because Kokapet has full potential to develop into a foreign city in the future. Recognising this, the current government has focused on the development of Kokapet.

In Kokapet, Poulomi Palazzo, a skyscraper being developed by Poulomi Estates, is already under construction with special attention being given to its development. The 55-storey Poulomi Palazzo is designed to offer grandeur and luxury in every inch. The lobby spans five floors, and one of the standout features of the building is a uniquely designed swimming pool on the 52nd floor, which serves as the main attraction. Residents can enjoy breathtaking views of the city, swimming at such heights while experiencing the beauty of Hyderabad. Another specialty of the Palazzo project is the double-height balconies, adding to the appeal. These unique and exciting features are why the Poulomi Palazzo is receiving great support and interest in Kokapet.
