The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), founded by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has decided to hold a Green Crusaders event on the occasion of International Earth Day. With the aim to explore the ways to protect our planet, the International Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22. This year, the International Earth Day will be celebrated with the theme ‘Invest in Our Planet’. Its purpose is to encourage the governments, developers, builders, architects, and citizens towards green buildings to combat climate change, which is considered to be the biggest threat to us. IGBC will host the Green Crusaders event in this context.
Developers, builders and owners in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh register their projects in the appropriate IGBC rating systems. Thus, they will play their role in building a sustainable planet Earth. Participants in the event will be honoured at an event on April 22 at the Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre in Hi-Tech City. Meanwhile, IGBC Hyderabad Chapter Chairman C Shekhar Reddy called on everyone to strive hard to conserve natural resources for future generations. He suggested that the builders, developers and individuals should adopt the IGBC green rating policy for their projects through measures such as reducing fuel consumption by up to 40 per cent, saving water and reducing maintenance costs.
