How to keep your house cool without AC

March is here, which means the scorching heat is here to trouble the people. The temperatures are high this year. In such circumstances, the condition of those who live in houses without AC is worse. Do you want to chase away the Summer heat without an AC? Then we bring to you some tips for a comfortable summer.

  • Just a bucket of water can keep your room cool. Take a bucket of cold water, place the bucket in a way where the bottom edge of your door or window curtains rests in it. After that turn on the fan. Curtains absorb that water slowly. Then the air coming from the fan becomes cold and the whole room is filled with coolness.
  • Taking care not to let sunlight enter the rooms during the day can prevent most of the heat build-up. Cotton curtains are required for this. Buy cotton curtains with a thick lining in a slightly darker color. Keep the doors and windows closed during the day to prevent outside heat from entering inside the house.
  • Keeping some plants near the windows can prevent the heat. Placing potted plants near the windows of your home will help them absorb as much heat as possible. As a result, the heat coming in is reduced and the room is cooler.
  • There are many cool lighting options, from LEDs to fluorescent lights. Choose such things in your home. Also, switch off all electrical appliances especially TV when not in use. Also keep the mobile charger switched off. Because it also releases heat. If the fridge is opened and closed repeatedly, the motor will work longer and the temperature of the room will increase. So, use less fridge as much as possible.
  • Cotton fabrics are a good choice for summer. Fancy or silk bed sheets are not very useful in summer. So, buy cotton bed sheets. Use cotton for sofa covers too.
  • Windows should be opened during sunset. Windows and doors should be kept open to take advantage of the cool evening air. Every door in the house including kitchen cabinets, bathroom, bedroom and closet doors should be kept open. This reduces the temperature in the room.
  • You can also reduce the heat in the house by painting the ceilings white. If you put a white painting on the ceiling, when the sun rays fall on it, it will reflect and blend into the atmosphere. This reduces the heat coming in.
