- Actor Suniel Shetty exclusive with the Real Estate Guru
Actor, entrepreneur, and producer #SunielShetty has a long association with Credai. He was also part of the Credai Natcon 2023 event held at Sharm El-Shaik in #Egypt.
His journey is one of a kind. What started off with hotel management Suniel has been in the business for over 32 or 33 years and has had his hands in movies, production, and entrepreneurship, among others.
“I am a master of none, but if someone talks about real estate, I want to know more about it; I want to learn more about it. While many call me an entrepreneur, I feel like I failed at every attempt except for movies; however, after movies, it was real estate that made me successful. Thanks to my dad, who always taught me to invest in real estate. Investing in commercial properties benefitted me, and people began to call me a businessman,” said Suniel, speaking at the Sharm El-Shaik in Egypt.
Let us hear more about what he has to say about the real estate scenario in India, investments, and more, as he has been into real estate for a long time and is known for building some high-end villas and more.
“I feel it’s about creating something, and that drew me more. I started when I got introduced to Sabu Cyril, one of the finest art directors in the world and a national award winner. Overnight, he created a studio. That was when I understood lighting, texture, and green textures. That’s when I realised why I should not do something like this, and the bug bit me to get into real estate and create a world through a home, which is magic. Holding on to your customers is something I believe in the most for a successful business,” he shared about his journey in real estate as a developer.
Sharing how he manages to keep himself and his mind strong through thick and thin, the actor-bizman said, “Consistency and commitment keep you balanced. With commitment comes discipline, and that’s when you progress, but you never finish if there is no consistency. Consistency is a sure sign of success, and for me, it is consistency. Being happy and content with whatever you’re doing is also important.”
“I am inspired by some big players in the industry. Despite my busy schedule, I am 100 percent on track with my projects. You must ask our homeowners how they find living in my projects. I want to be green in all my projects. If I want, I can construct 100 more apartments, but I won’t do it if I am not 100% involved; hence, I don’t want to build projects where I can’t indulge in them even in the future. There might not be major profits for me, but you learn only if you indulge, and I do it only if I have time to indulge. I spent as much as I spent on infrastructure just to protect trees in my project. Also, I would like to encourage the current generation to invest in startups. It is the right time to invest in them. Find the right one, do your research, and invest in them as they give many profits.”
On a lighter note, sharing his daily routine, he said, “I wake up around 5.30 and 6 am, and I hit the gym, followed by breakfast, which is mostly with my mom and my family. After spending a good 30 minutes with my family, I head to work, either shooting or my business work. On the days I have off, I spend quality time with my family and my plants on the terrace. My plants are my life. Any project I do, I am the landscapist and horticulturist, whether you like it or not.”
Asked how he manages his family life and his career, he answered, “I am very clear about what I want to do and how much I want to. Empathy probably lets you live the life you want. I am very conscious of my family. I want to live a life where I am genuinely happy. Having discipline, a great family, and a good team are your stress busters. Balancing is very important in life. The vision can be large, but the steps must be slow. That’s why I do not overtrade.
