Demanding elections to elect new executive body of Apartment Owners’ Association, some flat owners staged protest in front of the office of AOA in Noida. The residents of RG Residency in Sector 120 of Noida staged the protest stating the present committee was constituted without polls. Therefore, they sought scrapping of it altogether and holding elections afresh to elect new committee. They raised slogans against the existing committee. Later, they took out a huge rally on the premises of their apartment complex. Out of the 1540 flats in the complex, 1300 have occupied their abodes.
Earlier, many flat owners have lodged a complaint with the Registrar of Societies stating that the AOA has been constituted without holding any elections. Therefore, district registrar in last December ordered election of new committee through polls as per the by-laws of the association. Even after eight months, there was no sign of conducting elections to elect new committee.
Registrar appointed two observers to conduct the elections, but elections could not be held. The protesters alleged that the AOA has been obstructing conduct of elections. On July 8, returning officer has been appointed, but the AOA did not allow the elections to take place. However, the AOA committee condemned the allegations and claims to be working for the development of society seriously.
