Encroaching on lakes will lead to consequences Warns CM Revanth Reddy

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has once again made significant comments regarding the encroachments on lakes. He made it clear that he will not back down under any circumstances in the case of ongoing constructions on encroached lakes. CM Revanth Reddy stated firmly that he will not rest until those who have encroached upon the lakes are held accountable. He was the chief guest at the Passing Out Parade held at the Telangana Police Academy. During this event, he strongly reacted to the encroachments on lakes in Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister criticised some prominent individuals for building farmhouses near projects, and for mixing the wastewater from these farmhouses into Gandipet Lake. He expressed concern that encroachments on canals are causing severe flooding, which is resulting in the inundation of poor people’s homes.

Revanth Reddy stated that the establishment of HYDRA (a special task force) was aimed at freeing lakes from encroachments. He warned encroachers to vacate the lakes honourably, or else HYDRA would take responsibility for demolishing such encroachments. He also made it clear that if anyone obtained a stay order on the demolitions, they would fight the case in court. The Chief Minister mentioned that pollution from Hyderabad is reaching Nalgonda and stated that they would clear encroachments and develop the Musi Riverfront.

However, he noted that there are poor encroachments in the Musi catchment area and assured that the government would handle these cases with humanitarian considerations. CM Revanth Reddy announced that they would provide double-bedroom houses to the 11,000 affected families along the Musi. Ultimately, he warned encroachers that if they encroach on lakes, they would face dire consequences.
