- An overflowing Musi river poses threat to all residential areas nearby
- Not only price but lives are important!
Why live in expensive flats? Let us dig a little deeper into our pockets, to buy a big size villa and live happily ever after.
Till yesterday, several buyers had similar thoughts and purchased nice villas in Mokila. But little did they realise that they would be residing in the Musi catchment area. Even a few of them who knew it, ignored this as they never witnessed Musi river in all its fury. Hence, when it rained heavily recently, the gates of twin reservoirs (Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar) were lifted and the luxury villas of La Paloma community in Mokila, got submerged and reminded everyone the floating villas in a river. Several other villas, apartments, engineering colleges and resorts built in the Musi catchment area, were flooded with Musi water.
In the catchment areas of Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, many developers have somehow pleased or bribed the local bodies’ authorities and took up construction of expensive luxury villas and apartments. Resorts too were developed. All these large-size luxury properties were then purchased by some big wigs in the city. With the recent rains, the gates of the twin reservoirs were lifted. As a result, some gated communities built encroaching upon the Musi river and those constructed on FTL (full tank level) lands of tanks next to Musi river got submerged. If only a small rain results in inundation of these villas and apartments, just imagine how bad will the situation be if it rains heavily.
