Demand for warehouses goes up

Across the country the demand for warehouses is going up. This is attributed to increasing investments in infrastructure development sector, expansion of activities by e-commerce firms, growth of third party logistic companies.  As a result, rents of the warehouses also going up across the nation. In this backdrop, the cities of Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi found place in the top 10 logistic markets in Asia-Pacific region. Mumbai occupied the sixth place in the list from the annual rental category, following by Bangalore and Delhi which ranked eighth and ninth respectively in the list. The rent for warehouse in Mumbai is put at Rs 22 per square foot per month, which is 9.3 per cent more than the rent prevailed last year, according to real estate consultants Knight Frank India.

An additional plinth area of 1.1 million sft of warehouse space is going to be available in Mumbai. The rental demand for warehouse in Bangalore is put at Rs 20 per sft per month, which is 6.4% more compared to the rent prevailed the last year. Regarding the Delhi, the current demand for rent is put at Rs 19 per sft per month, which is 5.9% more compared to the rent prevailed last year.
