BMC issues notices to vacate these structures.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken note of buildings located in areas prone to landslides during the monsoon season. It has identified 188 buildings that are particularly hazardous. It has advised all occupants of these buildings to move to safer areas. Of the 188 buildings, 114 are in western suburbs, 47 in eastern suburbs, and 27 in island city. Authorities have ordered appropriate actions to be taken to evacuate occupants of these buildings and ensure their safety besides clearing them immediately.
The list of these buildings has been made available on the website by the BMC. Additionally, it has been instructed that structural audits of each of these buildings, older than 30 years, be conducted, and immediate repairs be carried out if any defects are found.
