A case was registered against K Viplava Kumar and K Venkateswara Rao, sons of veteran political leader and BRS MP K Keshava Rao, with the Banjara Hills Police Station for grabbing the site of a NRI woman settled in the USA. According to the complaint, in 1983 Jayamala, a resident of New Jersey, jointly bought a 939-square yard site in Shaikpet mandal from one Shaik Alikhan Ahmed. Later, they shared the site between them equally. Accordingly, Jayamala got 469 square yards of site.
In November last year, IT department sent a notice to Jayamala asking her explain the reasons for not paying tax out of the Rs 2.13 crore earned through sale of the land in 2013-14. Therefore, it asked her now to pay Rs 1,40,41,300. She immediately made enquiries with the Income Tax department through her relatives. She was shocked to learn the facts. It was revealed that Viplava Kumar, Claiming himself to be the holder of special power of attorney, sold the site to his brother Venkateswara Rao for Rs 3 lakh. Therefore, Jayamala lodged a complaint with the police. But, the police refused to register a case against the ruling party MP’s sons. Therefore, she approached the court along with all evidence. The court decided that her signature was forged and the site was sold illegally and asked the police to register the case against sons of the MP.
