Rent is Rs 62,000, but where's the place to sleep?
Satirical posts on Instagram about a small room in Dubai
Dubai is known for its expensive real estate, and property prices and rents there are sky-high. Recently, a post about the rent of a small room left everyone shocked. The advertisement, which described the space as a “ready-to-move-in partition with a balcony,” revealed how expensive rents in Dubai can be.
The cramped small partition was being rented for 2,700 dirhams (approximately Rs 62,000) per month, with an additional 500 dirhams (around Rs 11,500) deposit required. The real estate agency, Nelson Services, posted the ad on Instagram, stating that the property is located in a ladies-only apartment in Dubai Marina.
The room contained a small single bed, a bedside table, and a cupboard. Other than that, there was no additional space. It can hardly be called a room—it was more of a cubicle-sized private area. Looking at the room, that’s exactly what it seemed like. Netizens had a field day mocking the hefty rent for such a tiny space. One person commented, “Is it a room or a grave?” while another asked, “Rent is fine, but where’s the place to sleep in that room?” One user mentioned that their bathroom and balcony were bigger than that room.
