Builders and brokers Responsible for Pesky calls

Government proposes control over Pesky calls

You might have often gotten calls where you are asked if you require any loan or if you are interested in having a look at a real estate property, etc. These calls should not be made to us. Without registering primarily with the TRAI, if such calls are made, banks, insurance companies, real estate developers, brokers, and other organizations must be responsible, the central government stated. To prevent disruptions to many people, the government has decided to issue fresh guidelines for such calls.

With services like ‘Do Not Disturb’ in place for two decades now, such calls have been controlled to a large extent. However, they were not able to curb it completely. This decision has been made to prevent the intrusion of personal information of people by such organizations. The Department of Consumer Affairs has emphasised this issue. Violating the rights of consumers with such unwanted calls has been named as a crime. They have suggested proper guidelines to control them.

Calls made for business promotion purposes are called pesky calls. The government expects actions to be taken against such calls in this sector. Information has been received that three series will be utilized for this. Starting with 140 series for marketing purposes, 160 series for service numbers, 111 series for phone numbers, the government is considering using it for sending important messages. With this, it is easy for people to identify the series that come to them.
