Authorities responsible for air pollution

At a time when air pollution is increasing and air quality is declining in many cities across the country, many governments have taken preventive measures. Also, the Bombay High Court has recently ordered immediate action to curb air pollution. With this, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has issued some guidelines for construction activities to improve air quality in the twin cities.

While most of these are already in place, the corporation has set a target to implement all of them precisely. For this, special teams have been appointed in each ward. As many as 16 squads have been appointed in 32 wards of the twin cities. These teams will visit the construction sites and take pictures and videos of them. If the conditions are found to be in violation of the rules, measures such as imposing a fine, giving stoppage notices, or seizing the place will be taken.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has already issued notices to 100 contractors and real estate companies in Mumbai. It has been clarified that dust reduction norms should be adhered to in order to improve air quality in the city. It suggested that builders take measures to prevent air pollution with sprinklers and fogging machines. It has also been decided to take strict action against those who commit illegal dumping in the ward. In the event of a failure to take these measures, the higher officials decided to hold the concerned officials responsible.
