In a move to save energy, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to supply four LED bulbs, two LED tube lights, and two energy-efficient ceiling fans to the beneficiaries of the housing scheme at a price that is less than the market price.
Nearly 93% of the 21.25 lakh houses sanctioned as part of the Navaratnalu-Pedalandariki Illu scheme have been grounded. The state government has allocated Rs 7630 crore for the current fiscal year to implement the scheme.
Against this backdrop, the government decided to get energy-efficient LED bulbs, tube lights, and fans at a comparatively lower price. For this purpose, it entered into an MOU with Energy Efficiency Services Limited. As part of the MoU, the company would supply six lakh LED bulbs, three lakh LED tube lights, and three lakh BLDC ceiling fans to Jagananna Housing Colony beneficiaries in the first phase. Because of their use, each house would be able to save at least 734 units. The total amount of electricity that is going to be saved by 15.6 lakh houses would save 1145 million units, worth Rs 352 crore.
