In Maharashtra, over 2,809 real estate projects have remained suspended. The total value of the flats in these projects is put at Rs 78,000 crore. Pune topped the list with 834 suspended realty projects, followed by Mumbai (582) and Thane (354), according to statistics provided by MahaRERA.
The projects are supposed to be completed between 2017 and 2022 (March). Since the builders did not request extending the deadline and not completing booking of flats, these flats have been listed under suspended projects’ category. A MahaRERA official who wished to remain anonymous said that the government will initiate measures so that the buyers of flats in the suspended projects would not face any hardships. The official said that a committee is likely to be constituted for the purpose.
