Who gifted villas to HMDA officials?

  • No action on GO 111 illegal structures?
  • Who lured officials to turn a blind eyetowards illegal constructions?

Ahead of the elections, the current CM, Revanth Reddy, as a PCC president, strongly opposed the then government’s decision on GO 111 in order to save the environment and protect twin reservoirs. He criticised the previous government for scrapping GO 111. After Revanth Reddy became the Chief Minister of Telangana, the environmentalists called for the complete destruction of illegal construction in the GO 111 area.

Many builders and developers have developed large-sized villas in many areas under GO 111, believing that the BRS government will come to power in the 2023 elections as well. Some have started apartments; others have built gated community ventures. Several villa communities have been developed near the twin reservoirs. Now, the environmentalists are appealing to the government to completely raze all the projects that are being constructed as well as those that have already been developed. Now the topic of discussion is: what will CM Revanth Reddy, who has made many criticisms of KTR’s farmhouse in the past, do now, and what kind of action will he take against these?

Housing complexes, hotels, malls, commercial buildings, etc. should not be constructed in the catchment area of the twin reservoirs. However, with the encouragement of previous government leaders, many people have started illegal construction within the boundaries of GO 111 areas. Many developers have started villa communities with the largest-sized villas in a small area. However, the HMDA officials at that time left it unattended. The reason, the HMDA officials say, is that one or two of them besieged the villas of the higher officials. Builders say that if the government digs a little deeper, it will be known which officials have how many villas. However, environmentalists are appealing to raze the illegal structures immediately in the GO 111 area and protect the twin reservoirs from pollution.
