When will the Future City be completed?

Steps toward building the Future City are progressing swiftly. The Congress government is seizing every opportunity as it moves ahead with its vision to develop a Fourth City in Mucherla, located in Ranga Reddy district.

As part of this initiative, construction of the Young India Skill University is already underway at a rapid pace. The government has now shifted its focus to developing an Artificial Intelligence City as well.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to begin full-scale construction of the Future City by the end of August. The Telangana government is placing special emphasis on establishing data centres and Global Capability Centres (GCCs) as part of this ambitious project.

Around 18,000 acres of land have already been acquired for the development of Future City, and further land acquisition is currently underway. Several international companies are showing interest in investing in the AI City planned within the project.

ST Telemedia, a Singapore-headquartered global company, has already expressed its willingness to set up a data centre in the AI City. It has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government to establish a data centre campus in Meerkhanpet, near Mucherla.

The company is prepared to invest Rs 3,500 crore to build an AI-driven data centre with a 100 MW capacity in the Future City. Meanwhile, the Telangana government is also holding discussions with global tech giants like Microsoft and Google. Officials estimate that the AI City alone could attract investments worth around Rs 20,000 crore.

The Telangana government is actively preparing dedicated land within Future City for setting up data centres. The goal is to ensure that no industrialist or investor who comes to the state turns away due to lack of infrastructure or support. As part of this vision, the government plans to provide world-class facilities for all investors within Future City.

Special focus is also being placed on the development of GCCs. The government has already decided to establish an Integrated Sports Complex within Future City. Efforts are underway to identify suitable land, develop necessary infrastructure, and engage in consultations with national and international sports academies.

Plans are being drawn up to create a Sports Village that gives equal importance to both indoor and outdoor sports, featuring facilities for cricket, football, golf, and many more disciplines.

To ensure world-class standards, the Revanth Reddy-led government has already decided to appoint international-level sports architects for the design and execution of the Integrated Sports Complex. The Telangana government has announced plans to establish a world-class Medical City within Future City. This will be developed alongside other key components such as the Skill University, AI City, Sports City, Tourism Hub, and IT Data Centres.

The survey work for the construction of radial roads connecting to Future City has been completed. Roads will be built to ensure seamless connectivity from Hyderabad and neighbouring districts to the upcoming urban hub.

The government has also announced a Metro Rail project connecting Shamshabad Airport to Future City, further boosting accessibility. With these developments, Future City has become a focal point of attention for investors, developers, and the general public alike.

Several villages from Ibrahimpatnam, Maheshwaram, and Kandukur mandals have been brought under the jurisdiction of the Future City Development Authority.

Locals have welcomed the construction of greenfield roads aimed at enhancing connectivity to Future City. They are pleased that new companies are entering the area and land prices are rising as a result. Currently, land prices range from Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 3 crore per acre, and are expected to increase even further in the near future.

The development of Future City has led to the launch of hundreds of real estate ventures in the region. Real estate companies are developing open plot ventures with approvals from DTCP and HMDA. Depending on the project and location, plot prices range from Rs 18,000 to Rs 45,000 per square yard. However, realtors believe that unless these prices come down, common buyers may hesitate to invest in plots.
