A certificate issued by the local body or appropriate officials certifying that the construction of a building has been completed successfully is called the building completion certificate (BCC). The certificate confirms that the building has been built as per the approved plan, conforming to building codes and safety norms.
The BCC plays a crucial role in the building construction process. Having completed the construction of the building, the concerned builder should apply to the local body so that the officials will inspect the building thoroughly. They would check whether the building conforms to the quality standards and meets the electricity and plumbing specifications. They also check the fire-safety norms of the building. If the building is constructed as per the rules, the officials give the BCC. To get the occupancy certificate and to live in the building legally, the BCC is a vital document.
The BCC contains the following information:
- Details of the land, plot number, area of the land and other statutory information
- The full particulars of coordinates of the location of the building
- Whether the building is constructed as per the approved plan or not
- The name of the developer and the agency executed the construction and other details
- The height of the building its limitations and zoning regulations
- The BCC also includes the location of the building with respect to adjacent buildings
- The distance between the building and the road and other technical details.
