Ventures killing our food sources

In the last ten years.. layouts in 5 lakh acres

Voluntary ventures like farm plots

TS Rera who never cares!

If this continues, experts say food shortage is inevitable

Will Telangana face food shortage? Will there be a situation where there is no food to eat? Are we heading towards a situation where everything will be imported? Experts say yes. Do you know why? They point out that the main reason is the indiscriminate allocation of lands for ventures.

In the past, people only used to sell flats after laying out layouts. Now, they are selling farm plots as well. Moreover, agricultural lands are being sold in plots without even creating layouts. Even in remote areas of Telangana, farm plots are being sold. The surprising thing is that these plots are also being registered and even receiving farmer benefits. Consequently, people are rushing to buy these plots. Over the past decade, approximately 4 to 5 lakh acres of agricultural land in Telangana have been converted into real estate ventures. Our Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced that he will develop the state by dividing it into three zones. Due to the newly proposed Regional Ring Road, experts are concerned about how many more lakh acres will turn into ventures. If this continues, prominent business coach Venu Bhagwan warns that Telangana will soon face a food shortage.

Previously, fruits, vegetables, and food grains from various areas in Rangareddy district used to come into the city. Over the past decade, due to artificial price hikes in real estate, the majority of farmers have shifted their focus away from vegetable cultivation. Instead, a significant number are now focusing on real estate ventures. Venu Bhagwan suggests that the solution is to stop buying in such ventures, as the presence of buyers is what leads to the creation of these ventures. He emphasised that development should not lead to destruction. He proposed overcoming the situation by adding real value. He noted that real estate ventures attract people with amenities like swimming pools and gyms, and suggested setting up food forests or similar initiatives to foster a connection with the land.
