The USA, which has only 5 per cent of the globe’s population, produces 30 percent of the world’s garbage, according to a study by Environment and People journal in its latest issue. Americans discard 25 lakh plastic bottles every hour.
- USA burns 10,000 gallons of gasoline, which is equivalent to producing 220,000 pounds of Carbon di Oxide.
- The garbage collection is described as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. It is twice the size of the continental USA.
- In the patch, at least 100 million tonnes of garbage is collected from the Pacific Ocean to the North American west coast to Japan.
