Three new metro routes in Hyd soon

Hyderabad residents will soon have metro rail service available on three more routes. The Revanth government, which has already given the green signal for the construction of the Metro Phase 2, has sped up the survey work on the Medchal, Shamshabad, and Future City routes. Metro Rail authorities have stated that traffic surveys and land suitability tests on these routes will be completed by the end of this month. At the same time, the DPRs (Detailed Project Reports) for the Shamshabad Airport to Future City route are also being finalised. Metro officials estimate that the DPRs for these three metro routes will be ready by the end of March.

Survey work is progressing at a fast pace in the Medchal and Shamshabad metro corridors. The traffic survey and land suitability tests are expected to be completed by the end of this month. For the 24 km metro corridor from JBS to Medchal and the 21 km metro corridor from JBS to Shamshabad, necessary traffic surveys, geo-technical investigations, and environmental impact assessments are being conducted for the preparation of DPRs. The traffic survey study includes analysis of current daily trips on these corridors, estimates of future daily trips, turning points where passengers travel to different areas at junctions, the number of pedestrians, time taken for vehicle travel, the percentage of vehicle travelers likely to switch to metro, and the travel density at proposed metro station locations.

In the environmental impact study of the project, experts are examining factors such as air cleanliness in the current routes, the percentage of particulate matter in the air, identification of pollution sources, noise pollution, water resources, and the impact on biodiversity of plants and animals. The land suitability tests include studying various types of soil and rock layers in these routes, the necessary land suitability tests for different constructions, estimating underground water levels, and analysing the potential for earthquakes in the region. After these surveys, the strength and design of metro pillars, stations, and other structures will be determined.

After completing all these studies, the authorities will submit the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the three metro routes, including the Medchal, Shamshabad Airport to Future City route, to the state government for approval by the end of March. Once state approval is obtained, the DPRs will be submitted to the central government, and once permission is granted, the project will begin. This will enhance transportation facilities in the outskirts of Hyderabad. Real estate experts suggest that middle-class people who cannot afford homes in Hyderabad can consider buying land or homes at affordable prices in areas like Medchal, Shamshabad, and Future City. They advise making decisions based on their budget, keeping future development in mind when purchasing real estate.
