The Government of Telangana has decided to benefit the homeless poor who did not benefit from 2BHK house scheme. They will be given a financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh to enable them to build homes, provided the family owns a house-site. In 2022-23, over 4 lakh families are going to be benefited under the scheme, according to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He entrusted the task of identifying 3000 beneficiaries in each constituency to the MLAs. At this rate, over 3.57-lakh beneficiaries will be identified in 119 constituencies. The rest of the 43,000 beneficiaries will be handpicked by the CM.
The recent budget for the year 2022-23 has allocated Rs 12,000 crore to the housing sector. In the previous budget, allocation to this sector was only Rs 11000 crore. Responding to the government offering Rs 3 lakh to the homeless poor to build homes, the Congress breathed fire on the government. Congress leaders Revanth Reddy and CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka has come down on the TRS government like a ton of bricks for offering a reduced amount of Rs 3 lakh instead of extending the promised benefit of Rs 5 lakh towards the government assistance to the poor to build homes.
