Take these precautions at home this Monsoon

As the monsoon season started, rains began to hit many parts of the country. In order to ensure that heavy rains cause no damage to our homes, some precautions are very necessary. Especially, check for any water leaks from roofs and immediately fix them. Here are some tips to prevent problems.

A big problem faced by many houses during the monsoon is leakage. Check for any leaks from the roof or the upper floors. Neglecting these will lead to increasing maintenance costs. Therefore, seal leaks in ceilings and roofs with putty or damp-proofing solutions. Arrange for waterproofing on external roofs. Choosing silicone paints for the outer roofs can prevent problems.
During the monsoon season, the humid environment also favours pests and other organisms. Therefore, check for pests and harmful insects in your home. Especially due to pests, furniture, and roofs can be damaged. The areas with stagnant water can lead to abnormal growth of fungi. Therefore, keep an eye on areas where water is stagnant and ensure that pests do not spread.
In any season, proper ventilation is essential at home. During the monsoon, there is a greater chance of short circuits. Before the monsoon season starts, check the wiring with an electrician, switchboards, and main connections to ensure their proper function.
Check for pests and leaks. If there are any, immediately damp-proof them.
Check the seatings in outdoor. If they are waterproof, it’s fine, otherwise replace them.
Heavy curtains are not to be used as they attract pests and flies. Some curtain curtains may not be suitable for the monsoon.
Don’t keep floors wet or use carpets during the monsoon. They increase the chance of mold and fungus buildup.
Don’t buy leather items in the rainy season. There is a chance for the leather to be spoiled.
If there are any leathers in your home, cover them.
If you take these small precautions, you can enjoy the monsoon without any worries.
