A key update has come regarding the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road project, specifically concerning the northern section. Tendering for the northern section of the project was initiated two months ago, but authorities have revealed that it may take some more time to open the tenders. RRR tenders in two weeks! The delay is attributed to a lack of clarity on land acquisition for the 161 km stretch of the northern section, as well as slow approval processes from the Forest Department. The central government has decided to construct the northern section as a Greenfield Regional Expressway. The project will span from Girmapur in Sangareddy district to Tangadpalli in Yadadri district, covering a total of 161.518 kilometers. The estimated cost for the northern section is set at Rs 7,104.06 crores.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had invited tenders on December 27 last year for the construction of the northern section of the Regional Ring Road in four lanes. The deadline for submitting bids for the northern section was set for February 14. According to the notification, tenders were scheduled to be opened on February 17. However, the National Highways Authority has recently postponed this process. Sources from the central government have stated that it will take another two weeks to open the tenders. A total of 1,940 hectares of land needs to be acquired for the northern section of the Regional Ring Road. Of this, nearly 94% of the land acquisition has been completed.
Officials have identified that the remaining land for acquisition is embroiled in legal disputes. In addition, full compensation needs to be provided to farmers who have lost their land. Forest Department approvals for work to begin on 72.35 hectares of land in the Medak, Siddipet, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts have already been obtained. Compensation must be paid to the Forest Department for these lands. The central government has also identified the need for processes like allocation of alternative land and planting of trees. As a result, tenders will likely be opened only after all these procedures are completed.
