RRR construction on 3 rivers!

RRR construction on 3 rivers!
Cost of Rs. 52.5 crore per kilometre for RRR The Regional Ring Road, which is set to become another jewel for Telangana state and the Greater Hyderabad Metropolitan Area, is progressing rapidly. The Regional Ring Road, a joint initiative of the central and state governments, is planned to be constructed on a scale beyond expectations. The northern section of the RRR will be built over a total length of 162 kilometres, with the National Highway Authority of India estimating a cost of Rs 8,500 crores for this four-lane highway. This estimate has also been detailed in the recently submitted DPR (Detailed Project Report). The Regional Ring Road will pass over several national and state highways, railway tracks, rivers, streams, and canals. Notably, massive bridges will need to be constructed over three rivers, with the cost for these alone estimated to exceed Rs 250 crores. Considering future plans to expand the Regional Ring Road to eight lanes, the construction will be designed to withstand any potential disasters and to accommodate the growing population and increasing number of vehicles. Land acquisition for future needs is already underway in anticipation of these developments. Hyderabad city is located at an elevation of just 16.4 feet above sea level, yet even light rains cause waterlogging on the roads. This often leads to traffic jams throughout the city. Additionally, the roads frequently get damaged as they intersect with rivers. To prevent such issues on the newly constructed Regional Ring Road, special precautions are being taken. That is why the Regional Ring Road is being built at a much higher elevation. For the first time in South India, the RRR (Regional Ring Road) is being constructed at an elevation of 16.4 feet. The total 162-kilometer stretch of the RRR will cross three rivers, requiring the construction of four-lane bridges over each of these rivers. A bridge will be constructed over the Musi River near Proddutur in Valigonda Mandal, costing around Rs 100 crores. Another bridge will be built over the Manjeera River near Sivampet in Pulkal Mandal, estimated to cost over Rs 70 crores. Over the Haldi River at Toopran, a bridge will also be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 70 crores. In addition to these three major bridges, there will be several smaller bridges and underpasses. Altogether, approximately 190 bridges and over 100 underpasses will be constructed on the Regional Ring Road to ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow. Officials say that these underpasses will be wide enough to allow heavy trucks and vehicles to pass through comfortably. In such areas, the road will be constructed at a height of nearly six meters. Additionally, over 50 small culverts will be built to allow smaller vehicles to pass through. The road will be designed to handle traffic moving at speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour. As part of the RRR construction, more than Rs 2,000 crores are being spent specifically on bridges, culverts, and underpasses. Special attention will also be given to road quality, ensuring the highway can withstand vehicles traveling at 120 kilometres per hour. Due to these extensive safety and structural measures, the government’s DPR states that the project will cost over Rs 8,000 crores in total. This means the Regional Ring Road construction will cost approximately Rs 52.5 crores per kilometre. For the first time in the country, such a massive road project is being constructed around a metro city, and real estate experts predict that the skyline of Telangana, especially Hyderabad, will be transformed as a result.
