A partner of a real estate firm has been sentenced to three years of imprisonment for cheating buyers to the tune of Rs 11 crore. Royal Realtors’ partner Rizwan Dadan redeveloped a project in Byculla, Mumbai, in 2012. A mother and son from Mumbai bought a thousand-square-yard house in it for Rs. 57 lakh. However, the flat was not handed over as days passed. They approached the police, and a case was registered against Dadan. After examining the facts of the case and 23 witnesses, the court found Dadan guilty. It is concluded that the amount of Rs. 10.9 crore paid by the buyers was used for its own purposes. It was also found that the same flat was sold to many people. Judge DS Patale ruled three years imprisonment for Dadan along with a fine of Rs. 50,000.
