The construction of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) around the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR) is set to become a major game-changer for Telangana. The Regional Ring Road is being constructed around 40 kilometers away from the existing ORR, passing through several districts of Telangana. The project is being carried out in the northern and southern parts, with the central government already inviting tenders for the northern section of the work.
In addition, the Telangana government is considering the construction of a Regional Ring Railway Line around the Triple R (RRR). Union Minister Kishan Reddy has previously mentioned this and announced plans to set up the regional ring railway line around the RRR. Recently, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take steps to kickstart this project.
The Telangana government believes that if the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and the Regional Ring Railway Project are implemented simultaneously, the work will be completed quickly. In this regard, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to prepare proposals for the railway line project around the RRR. He plans to personally meet Prime Minister Modi, coordinating with the Ministry of Railways, to present these proposals.
The Telangana government anticipates that with the Regional Ring Road and the Regional Ring Railway, 60% of the state will be urbanised. Additionally, they estimate that industrial development will expand extensively within a 200-kilometer radius around Hyderabad.
The Telangana government believes that if the Regional Ring Railway Line is established, the state will attract industries related to automobile and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. It is noted that South Korea is currently being considered as the next country for setting up such industries, after China. During a recent visit, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy invited South Korean representatives to come to Hyderabad.
While 35% of bulk drugs are manufactured in Hyderabad, the government believes that with the Regional Railway Line project, transportation of these goods will become easier. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has already instructed to conduct a survey on this route, and Union Minister Kishan Reddy mentioned that the Railway Department has allocated Rs 13.95 crore for finalizing the land survey and preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The Regional Ring Road (RRR) project has already sparked a surge in real estate activity. Land prices in areas surrounding the 340-kilometer-long RRR are gradually increasing. Now, with the proposal for the Regional Rail Project around the RRR, real estate experts predict that the sector will further boom. The central government has already invited tenders for the northern part of the RRR, and proposals for the southern part are being prepared for tendering. Both the central and state governments aim to complete the Regional Ring Road within two to three years. If the central government approves the Regional Railway Line proposal, it is expected to open up significant development opportunities within a 200-kilometer radius around Hyderabad.
