Public auction of sites to be blamed!

Till the other day, the Housing Board used to build four types of homes to suit people’s pocket. They are classified into EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG. It even built a mega housing colony like Kukatpally Housing Board Colony in Hyderabad.
Late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, the then CM of AP, set the Housing Board aside and promoted Rajiv Swagruha. The beneficiaries of the housing project are yet to get allotment of the flats even 10 years after passing away of Dr YSR. Thanks to the inordinate delay. The culture of auctioning off the government lands has begun much earlier to Rajiv Swagruha. It is still continuing in Telangana. The public auction of government lands has made owning a house by middle classes burdensome. Ten years ago, one can buy a house at Rs 10 lakh in Nagole. Because of the HMDA auction of its lands pushed the cost of per square yard in Nagole to Rs 1 lakh. In that case, will land prices in areas surrounding to Nagole remain static? Or Will the Government fulfil the dream of own house of the common man? No way. Therefore, for the past seven years the common man is finding it very difficult to buy a house in Hyderabad.
