NRIs plan to return to India

• They prefer to settle down in India after their retirement from service
• Economic benefits and other interests spur their decision

The NRIs who went overseas to earn money have been contemplating returning to India to settle down upon retirement. They feel like returning to India upon superannuation. They have been preparing plans in this regard. The reasons are not far to seek: besides the love for motherland, the NRIs weigh the economic benefits of settling down in India.

The Indian economy, in the post-Covid-19 scenario, has been progressive. Moreover, there are many avenues for NRIs to invest in the country. Therefore, the NRIs are keen to acquire property in India.

Those who still have time to retire have been preparing strong financial plans as part of their retirement plans in India to lead a happy life.

According to a survey carried out by SBNRI on the post-retirement plans of NRIs, at least 60% of those who have retired from service in Australia, Canada, the USA, the UK, and Singapore prefer to settle down in India.

In fact, 80 percent of the NRIs in Singapore expressed their desire to return to India to settle down, followed by the USA (75%), UK (70%), and Canada (63%).

On the whole, 72% of NRIs believe that the investment opportunities in India are numerous. This is the sole reason they opt to live their retirement lives in India.

The country emerged strong following digitalization and stable economic performance. It guarantees a good future for investors. Rules have been made simpler for NRIs to implement their post-retirement life plans in India. That is why the NRIs are returning to India, Mudit Vijaya Vargiya, who conducted the survey, said.
