RegNews, Hyderabad: Many of us have watched TPCC president A Revanth Reddy and Minister Ch Malla Reddy have recently abused each other. At one point, Revanth Reddy termed Malla Reddy as a real estate broker as if it was meant as an abuse. Putting their conflict aside, the word broker – be the real estate sector or stock market, actually meant to be used for mediators or facilitators who handle sales and purchases. However, the word is also used to label a person in a demeaning way. But did you ever wonder whether it was appropriate to use the word broker for a person who helps you with your investments.
Professional real estate brokerage is one of the most frequently rejected denominations of all professions. About 49 out of fifty people say no to a real estate broker, but the latter strives relentlessly to find that one person who says yes. If it was any other profession, that person might give up after all these rejections. But majority of the real estate brokers do not give up and instead, strive harder to reach their targets. Do you know why? Though a person might curse them first, the same person will surely praise them as the time passes by.
Recently a woman from Dubai bought a 3BHK flat from a builder in Hyderabad. While paying the advance, she gave a photograph to the developer and asked if he knew that person who works as a real estate broker. When the builder asked if she was facing any trouble from the said person, she explained the reasons for her query. “About a decade and a half ago, this real estate broker made me buy a land at Rs 1,000 per sq.yard. Though I rejected his proposal for about 50 times, he convinced me and made me purchase the land. Now, the same land costs over Rs 50,000 per sq.yard. I have just sold the land and purchasing a flat from you with that amount. I could not give him much money then, but would like to give some money now,” she said, leaving the developer in utter shock.
Therefore, those who practice the real estate profession should never be underestimated. The flats that they make us purchase at low prices, would fetch us a few lakhs of rupees in future. These properties turn into investments and cater to our future needs ranging from higher education to performing marriages of our children. Some people will be able to build their dream homes to lead a blissful life. In one way or the other, the real estate broker helps us earn that extra money to fund our future needs. Hence, we as a society should give them much needed courtesy to those who have taken up this profession and call them real estate consultants rather than brokers.
