Route map prepared for the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th corridors
The state government officials have prepared second-phase proposals to operate the Metro Rail service along the new routes to ease the growing traffic congestion in the city and to meet the future transport needs of the people, keeping in mind the airport connectivity.
The government officials annulled the route map prepared by the previous BRS regime on the directions of the Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, and proposed a new route with a total length of 70 km. Once the proposals are cleared by the government, the work will be grounded. The new route map has been designed to ensure that Metro Rail connectivity benefits more and more people with less expenditure. It has been designed to not only benefit the old city of Hyderabad but also the newly developed regions. The proposals improve connectivity to the airport from all parts of the city.
In the city, Metro Rail facilities are available up to a total route length of 69 km. The connectivity extends from Miyapur to LB Nagar, JBS to MGBS, and Nagole to Rayadurgam.
The following are the new routes proposed:
The second corridor linking the JBS with the MGBS has been extended until Falaknuma, as was proposed in phase 1. From there, the corridor gets extended to Chandrayanagutta X roads up to a distance of 7 km.
As regards Corridor-4, the Metro Rail service gets extended to LB Nagar station from Nagole and from LB Nagar to Chandrayanagutta X roads. Subsequently, the Metro Rail gets extended to Mylardevpalli, P7 Road, and from there to Shamshabad, for a total distance of 29 km. Similarly, the new route map proposed to have the Metro rail service till the proposed High Court in Rajendra Nagar from Mylardevpalli via Aaram Ghar.
As regards Corridor-5, the Metro Rail route proposes to link Rayadurgam Metro Rail Station with the US Consulate (Financial District) via the Bio-diversity junction, Nanakramguda junction, and Wipro junction for a total distance of 8 km.
In Corridor 6, the Metro Rail covers a total distance of 14 km from Miyapur Metro station to BHEL via Pathancheru.
In Corridor-7, the proposed new route will have a total distance of 8 km, linking LB Nagar Metro Station with Hayath Nagar via Vanasthalipuram.
