Lubna Urge CM Revanth Reddy to Act on Musi Encroachments.. Aditya Vantage Cited as an Example

RegNews, Hyderabad, April 23: Prominent environmentalist Dr. Lubna Sarwath has once again written to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, raising an urgent red flag over continued encroachments and industrial pollution in the Musi River basin. Despite the CM’s stated commitment to Musi’s revival, the letter alleges that concerned authorities, particularly the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation (MRDC), have allowed blatant violations to go unchecked.

Central to the concerns raised is the construction project by Aditya Constructions, which, according to official KML data overlaid on Google Earth and NRSC maps, is being developed directly within the Musi riverbed. This, Sarwath says, is a glaring example of the “destructional activity” that needs immediate intervention.

“This is a matter of grave environmental and civic concern,” she wrote. “The Aditya constructions project, marked clearly on official maps, is situated within the Musi river. Such encroachments must be evicted from Osman Sagar and Himayath Sagar dams downwards if we are serious about restoring the river.”

The letter reiterated the appeal made in earlier representations, including one dated September 1, 2024, and highlighted fresh evidence, that prove no action has been taken against these violations. “In the interest of our glorious global city of Hyderabad, we once again urge your instruction on the eviction of Musi river encroachments from the ORR downwards,” the letter states emphatically. Further criticism was directed at the official Musi River website, which Dr. Sarwath pointed out is non-compliant with Section 4 of the RTI Act, 2005, thereby withholding vital public information from citizens — a violation of a core law intended to ensure transparency and public accountability.
