The previous BRS government worked hard to water down the dusty Musi. The municipal department officials visited the Sabarmati River several times. They announced that they would develop Musi in the same way. Separately, Musi Riverfront Development was established. Loans were taken from banks. However, it is not known how far the project has progressed so far. CM Revanth announced that as soon as the new government is formed, the beautification of Musi will be given priority. Instead of the Sabarmati River, this government is busy developing it along the lines of London’s Thames River. However, here is a fact that everyone should know: The London Thames catchment did not happen in two or five years. Governments have worked together for several years to reach the present situation.
Not only does the government have the will to develop the Thames, it has allocated funds for that. Town planners, architects, engineers, city development associations, and NGOs have all been involved in that process. Great brainstorming took place. For a few years, with firm plans, the Thames turned beautiful with everyone’s involvement. At that time, scientists also announced that the river had died biologically. However, unless you work hard for a few years, it does not come to life. Even so, the truth must be understood: Musi is currently in danger due to pollution, plastic, and an increasing population. We have to make our Musi River a reservoir. There is no doubt about it. Everyone involved in urban development should be made a participant in this process. Architects, engineers, landscape designers, NGOs, geologists, developers, city development associations, subject matter experts, and environmentalists should be included as partners. It should be recognised that this work will not be successful unless it is done with great dedication for a few years.
