The Government of Haryana announced to waive the interest on the dues of property tax till December 31, according to Haryana minister for local bodies Kamal Gupta. He appealed to the property owners of urban areas to make use of the facility. Under the scheme, total interest on the dues of property tax will get waived. In fact, the government is yet to realize Rs 1000 crore towards property tax dues.
The Minister asked the property owners to pay the dues before Dec 31. Earlier, only 25 % of the property owners used to pay tax. Once IDs to Property have been introduced, a situation developed where in property owners would have to pay the property tax. In urban areas, through undertaking mapping and survey over 42.7 lakh properties have been identified. So far, ID has been given to over 33 lakh properties.
