Hyderabad excels in retail leasing. An increase of 145 percent was recorded in January–September 2023. Retail leasing has increased by 0.2 million square feet in January–September 2022. It has increased by 0.49 million square feet in the same period this year, according to the latest report by CBRE. It is remarkable that Hyderabad has a share of 10 percent in retail leasing in eight major cities across the country. Especially, the fashion and clothing sectors are leading in retail leasing. Leasing of 0.26 million square feet took place in Hyderabad during the July–September quarter.
Leasing was 0.09 million square feet during the same period last year. It is noteworthy that it is 189 percent higher compared to the previous year. Regarding retail leasing sector-wise, the share of the fashion and clothing sector in the nine months of this year is 34 percent, while home and department stores are at 17 percent and food and beverages at 13 percent. While Delhi, Chennai, and Pune led the leasing activities in the fashion and apparel segment, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai had the highest home and department store leasing.
While Bengaluru has the highest leasing share of 30 percent during the January–September period, Delhi has 19 percent, Pune 12 percent, and Chennai 11 percent. The total leasing for the July–September quarter was 1.84 million square feet. In this, the combined share of Bengaluru and Pune is 59 percent. If we look at cities, Bengaluru has 35 percent, Pune 24 percent, and Hyderabad 14 percent. When it comes to supply, Pune is in first place with 58 percent, and Delhi is in second place with 19 percent.
