Hyderabad as a GCC Hub

30% of GCCs in India set up in Hyderabad in the last five years
NASSCOM Statement
Hyderabad is emerging as a hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs). Over the last five years, 30% of all GCCs established in India have been set up in Hyderabad. While cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai are fiercely competing to attract GCCs, Hyderabad continues to lead. In the past five years, India has seen the establishment of 1,700 GCCs and 2,975 GCC units, with 30% of them located in Hyderabad. In 2019, Hyderabad had 230 GCCs, and by 2024, this number is expected to reach 355.

Experts estimate that by 2030, GCCs will play a key role in India’s technology landscape, job creation, market growth, and skill development. This was shared by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM). In a recent release of the ‘GCC Telangana Playbook,’ NASSCOM explained the favourable conditions for setting up GCCs in Telangana. The city’s high-quality infrastructure, skilled human resources, technological innovations, and rapidly growing startup ecosystem are contributing factors.

Additionally, incentives like land acquisition benefits, IT park incentives, stamp duty exemptions, and electricity rebates are encouraging GCCs to set up in Hyderabad. With skill training offered through institutions like TASK and Skill University, and the presence of international-level educational institutions such as IIT, IIIT, and ISB, Hyderabad is well-positioned to attract more GCCs.

Moreover, NASSCOM highlighted that in the next three to five years, 40 to 60 million square feet of office space will be made available, further facilitating the setup of GCCs. The GCCs being established in Telangana are focusing on key industries such as software/internet, electrical/electronics, FMCG, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, retail, medical devices, telecommunications, BFSI, automotive, and professional services.

All the GCCs established in Telangana are located in Hyderabad, specifically in areas like Gachibowli, HITEC City, Madhapur, Kondapur, and Manikonda. NASSCOM also mentioned that infrastructure in secondary cities like Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Khammam, Siddipet, and Mahbubnagar is ready for the establishment of GCCs.
