The Government of Telangana has delivered shock treatment to developers of unauthorized layouts. It has directed the department of registrations not to register plots in layouts that do not have the HMDA and DTCP approvals.
Earlier, several have developed layouts with the approval of the gram panchayats. The government ruled them to be unauthorized. To regularize such plots, the government introduced the Land Regularisation Scheme. When there was a hue and cry over this from public, the government agreed to register the plots that were already sold and ordered the developers of such ventures to seek government’s approval to sell the unsold plots in the ventures.
Realtors challenged the decision in the Telangana State High Court which decided in favour of them. The state government went to the Supreme Court in appeal against the HC decision. However, the SC issued stay in the matter. In this backdrop, the state government has asked the registration department not to register the plots in unauthorized layouts.
