Godrej has plans to invest Rs 300 crore in Telangana to develop seeds conducive to the local atmosphere in Khammam district. Godrej has plans to set up the first-ever private oil palm seed garden. Besides, it will develop a nursery of over 5 lakh oil palm plants.
Godrej will lend the necessary support to the farmer on the one hand and, on the other, provide employment to at least 2000 people.
IT Minister KT Rama Rao, who took part in the foundation stone-laying ceremony, said that Telangana has become home for Godrej Group and took an initiative to become a strong and reliable partner with the government.
Besides establishing an oil palm garden, the government is exploring the possibility of Godrej investing in dairy, personal care products, furniture, real estate, retail, poultry, and aquaculture spheres.
